April / May 2010. Went to see A Single Man (Tom Ford, 2009). Read and liked the novel in the 1970s (I'm a big Isherwood fan). Then read it again after TEML died and identified like crazy (cheerful despair here you are again). Then read it again the day before I went to see the film. Tom Ford I love you, you're a genius, you're the number one cinematic aesthete now that Visconti's gone. Your clothes and perfumes are delightful, your film is DIVINE. Gorgeous people gorgeously dressed and gorgeously filmed, tremendous decor, perfect colors. Minor changes re. the novel not unwelcome. Hallelujah. Please make more films.
